Kyn Hearth EcoVillage

Dear Friend(s),

Thank you for your interest in Kyn Hearth. The purpose of this letter is to provide you with some basic information about myself and the Eco Village I am building. I hope this information will assist you in evaluating on what level you want to continue the information exchange between us. Currently, I am the only human being living intentionally at Kyn Hearth.

About myself: I grew up in a large family and have always considered community and extended family to be a "normal" way to live. I have been working for the last twenty years in various recycling businesses. I owned and operated our home county recycling center for three years. I have been the manager of a seven state environmental program providing assistance to low income rural communities for ten years. I have been an ethanol technician, producing fuel grade alcohol from various feed stocks including waste sugar and starch products for five years. And right now I am the manager of a solvent recovery facility. I am strongly committed to implementing alternative energy systems. I have worked "professionally" as an automotive mechanic, tree planter, greenhouse manager, carpenter, plumber, electrician, truck driver, and woodworker. I enjoy children of all ages, a well exercised sense of humor, dancing, organic gardening, and physical work.

About the Eco Village: Kyn Hearth is located on 69 acres of beautiful, forested, mountain land in southwestern Virginia. I am working to create a rural Eco Village with truly sustainable living systems, and the development and practice of sustainable interpersonal systems - all with a healthy balance of fun and humor. I believe it is vitally important to question, research, develop, and implement environmentally sustainable systems for "energy" production, dwellings, food production and preservation, beneficial waste utilization etc. I am committed to continuing to find new ways for people to live together with respect for our natural environment and each other. I support healthy traditional and alternative relationships, including "non-traditional" sexual partnering and bonding, extended families, and shared responsibility for children. Within the basic committment to implementing sustainable systems, I am open to many possibilities and am interested in other individuals or groups who share these goals and beliefs.

I am working on several projects ranging from biodiesel production to "recycling" old structures for building materials. I am building by hand or with alternative energy "tools". Future projects include architectural designs that will combine effective low technology with environmentally sound high technology systems, constructed wetlands for residential wastewater treatment, methane digestion systems for beneficial waste utilization and fuel production, nano- and micro-hydro power systems, ethanol and biodiesel production as a fuel source, and a myriad of sustainable, non-toxic housing projects.

I am both highly individual and committed to finding healthy ways for people to live together in harmony with each other and our natural environment. I desire to live with people who share these commitments.

I hope that this provides you with some idea of who I am, what I am working on and where I am heading. I look forward to hearing from you. I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to learn more about you. I welcome inquiries and I will be happy to discuss any of these issues with you.

Please get in touch before planning a visit.
